3rd and 10 at B's 10. A-1 receives the snap and throws an interception to B-2 at (i) B's 6 or (ii) B's 4. In both cases, the B-2 momentum carries him into Team B's end zone where he is deflagged by A-3. How is this enforced?
In (i), a safety is called and Team A is awarded 2 points. Team A will receive the ball at A's 30, 1st down.
In (ii), the Momentum Rule is applied. Team B will start with the ball at B's 4, 1st down.
It is important for the official to make use of the bean bag when applying the Momentum Rule. Throw the bean bag at the spot where Team B or Team R gains possession (Rule 8-8-1A).
